There are no rules, only tools...

A gathering of thoughts, quotes and  drawings. One more detailed than the other. But no rules...sketchbooks are places without rules. That's why I like to sketch so much. I often find my sketches better than the final drawing. Plenty of sketchbooks are on my shelves. Some completely full, some completely blank. Just in case, I might ran out of sketchbooks one day! So I often buy them to set aside.  Do you have a sketchbook for drawing?

  1. Lovely drawings, especially the one of the wolf. Sketchbooks are just amazing, aren't they? And it's so true, that they have different qualities, on a good day you make some very detailed, great sketches but on another it's just doodling, when you're bored...
I do a little bit of sketchbook work too and I love to do that! ;)

  4. Your sketches are beautiful; you are very talented.
I don't have a sketchbook, I'm not very good at drawing - I have great ideas in my head but something happens between my brain and my hand which messes up any attempts! I do, however, have an inspiration notebook for sewing etc; where I make little drawings of my ideas.

  5. There is a book called "An Illustrated Life: Drawing Inspiration from the Private Sketchbooks of Artists, Illustrators and Designers" and I think it was in there that someone said you can't trust a sketchbook that looks like a portfolio or a collection of finished works. It's supposed to be messy sketched drafts. Which, in my opinion, are sometimes the best. Thanks for giving us a peek into yours. : )

  6. Thank you, Sarah. Inspiration books are great too and I like the drawings and sketches of dressmakers and seamstresses.
